I suspect a lot of the responses I've seen to this question are a bit outdated, so I'm asking here. I'm no expert, so I want to double-check to put my mind at ease.
Are there any security issues to forwarding a port on my router to access my Octopi install from an outside network? Some people on some old posts were talking doom and gloom - security breaches, even the possibility of people taking over the printer and causing huge issues - but the posts were a while back and I'd assume the user/password authentication and API key requirement would stop that from happening.
I've got an option to run a VPN on my router, but it's an extra step I've got to take every time I want to open up Printoid, and I'd rather not if I can avoid it.
So do I have anything to worry about? Are the API keys and the password I set on my Octoprint install enough security, or is there something I'm missing?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just don't want my ignorance to cause a security issue.
