Is it possible to hook up a heating element to a screw driver, but make it only get hot enough soften PLA plastic? If it is, how much do you think it'll cost?
Using it to heat screws and drive them into smaller holes for a stronger connection/avoid wasting time during design (Print: Oh, your screw hole was .05mm too big? I'll just bisect myself, how's that asshole?) Holding a lighter to partially screwed in screws for a few seconds works just as well, but warps the model if I'm not careful and takes longer. I think it'll make smaller printers more viable.
EDIT: Sounds like brass nails pressed w/ a soldering iron, and sticking a screwdriver head into a variable temp soldering iron are the winners. Exactly what I needed, great ideas, thanks guys!
