I would like to make some drawers that will go in the cabinet underneath my bathroom sink to store and organize toiletries. I like PETG here for its strength, water resistance, and that it is unlikely to deform over time.
These frame for these drawer will be moderately tall and designed with rods that snap together and are maybe glued. I am going to not have any drawer be too wide as I want to make sure the plastic can support the weight of everything involved.
Each drawer will likely be a mostly single walled 0.8mm nozzle printed design with some reinforcement for handles, corners, and the base. They will be fairly small and if I get this wrong its easy to re-print something with more strength.
The rods I am actually imagining designing for a very small infill percentage. I intend to make vertical rods printed vertically and horizontal rods printed horizontally with a healthy wall count and a big nozzle. If I should consider something else here please let me know.
The job here is not anything tricky. It's nothing cheap plastic crafting drawers couldn't do its just that by designing my own drawers I can very easily make optimal use of space. I live in a small apartment in a big city so this is worth every penny of extra cost to do. Plus its fun :)
So I guess my question is, long term, will I regret using PETG here? Is this something I should instead be printing the frame with carbon fiber or nylon filaments?
