Hey all,
So I'm planning on converting my CR-10v2 to linear rails and eventually a corexy frame. So I've been browsing other people's work to see what they've done and have noticed some interesting differences I was curious about.
X axis: Most commonly I see a single linear rail on the front of the frame piece, but I've also seen dual front rails and top mounted rails. Is there any real benefit to using two rails? Is the front or top "better" in the sense that it provides more rigidity?
Y axis: I've seen a few different methods here as well. Most often I see a dual rail setup staggered about a third of the total bed width apart on the top of the frame. I also have seen two very close upward facing rails, and two very close rails facing sideways both facing outwards. I can see how spacing them apart could be beneficial but I figured I'd ask if anyone actually knows that for sure.
Z axis: Is there any real point to converting a Z axis to linear rails? It moves so slowly I can't imagine it does but again, not an expert here.
What I mean when I say "worth it" or "add stiffness/rigidity" is does it give enough of a stability bonus to be worth the added expense/weight.
