So I have a modded 3ds and I decided to try and install a second digital copy of Tomodachi Life so I could have another island of very specific characters. I already had a cartridge version of the game from years ago with an old save file from when I was a kid and (before what just happened) if I wanted to switch between the old save file and my newer save file I would just choose either the cartridge or the digital version without any issue. I assumed downloading a second digital copy would work the same way. It did not.

When I downloaded it, it didn’t show up on my home page, so I went into the FBI app and clicked on the Tomodachi Life file in the Titles menu and launched it. It said it was creating Tomodachi Life save data on the SD card and then it started by telling me to set the date and time. Instead of doing that, I pressed the home button to see if it was running from a new icon on the menu and just checking to see if I was doing it right, but it was running from the same icon as the original digital copy. I closed it and tapped on the original icon and it told me to set the date and time again and I don’t know how to get back to my save file that I’ve poured hours into over the past 2 years. I haven’t tested out the cartridge yet because I’m scared to lose that save file too. Please someone help me out here, did it overwrite my save data? Did it just straight up delete it? Is my save data still on the system and the game is just choosing a different file? Please help I’m so upset.
