I bought a triwing kit and a 2-pack of spare CTR-003 batteries for my 2DS XL. Given how finicky the 2DS XL is to open and how the battery is taped down, I don't want to risk damaging the DS by doing a replacement unless it's needed. That said, my 2DS XL was purchased in 2018, I think? I don't play it extremely often, but am wondering if I should replace it now or if it's fine until later.
I'm not aware of any specific battery issues at the moment, though I'm not sure how I'd tell as the thing has never really held a charge that well, and a single play session can bring the battery down 15-20% in like 30 minutes or less, but I think that was the case or thereabouts when it was brand new, so hard to judge if I should worry about it now or just hang onto the batteries and replace it in a few months to a year.
