The only game I have so far encountered whose higher levels of 3D are too intense for me, is Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. But I always play with the 3D on, and until a couple weeks ago I had been using my shiny blue-green 3DS from launch day. (I finally upgraded so I could get Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and Hyrule Warriors.) I absolutely love the 3D, always have it on, and am disappointed when games do not give me the option to use it.
Am I alone in enjoying the 3D? It never felt gimmicky to me, I didn't have too much trouble staying in the sweet spot on my original model, and only after very extensive use does it start to bother my eyes, and I usually have the 3D slider all the way up or close to it. The visuals just look better to me this way, so pretty and smooth and deep. Sure, an HD 3D screen would have been better, and I wish Nintendo had gone that direction, but I personally am glad Nintendo pursued 3D to change the way I play instead of just going for raw power.
I know plenty of folks have had problems with the 3D, which I am not questioning. But I did not realize until recently how widespread the dislike of it was; I naively thought the shift to 2DS models was simply to cheapen manufacturing costs and so increase profits. I am just wondering whether any other folks are similarly fond of the eponymous 3D.
EDIT: I am quite happy to hear that I am nowhere near alone. Thank you all for your comments :)
