Going to NA from EU next weekend. I have some questions.

So as the title says, I'm going to Vegas and New York for a total of 2 weeks with my girlfriend (hopefully fiancée by the time we are back. Shhhhh she doesn't use Reddit!) and we are both taking our DS's (N3DS and 2DS). How does that affect the Nintendo store/general browsing online and specifically checking in for Pokemon Shuffle, but I can ask the latter part to the appropriate subreddit. Obviously I don't think I can buy any games for them when we are over there because of the region locks?

Basically will anything be different or will the DS's be smart enough to cope for 2 weeks? :P
