I felt awfully angry after watching Channel News Asia's "Internet Trolls: The Unseen Forces Behind Philippines' Politics" and I feel no mercy and compassion for whatever their reasons are for participating in an evil scheme that endangers democracy and in turn our very lives. Whether they're the Chief Architects of Disinformation or someone who consumed their lies, they don't deserve a single drop of tears for the suffering they're going through right now. They voted for the monsters then they should suffer for it.
Apparently some of them resorted to trolling because it pays their bills. However, we're all paying bills. Now most of us can't because of selfishness to satisfy their own families. Including people with families that voted for Marcos-Duterte. If they promoted candidates with credentials, experience, and morals then possibly we'd all be able to pay for our bills. I hope by this point in time they now know that those who voted Marcos-Duterte, rich or poor, are more likely to suffer poverty than those who voted for Leni, Ping, or Isko. Further data would also show that pink votes came from rich, wealthy, and educated barangays and districts who did their best to warn people of what a Marcos-Duterte administration would do to the country. While it may show the disappointing contrast and social divide, it also shows another thing. Those who voted for the truth can sleep soundly in their good homes knowing they voted for the right candidates while those who didn't are probably awake of hunger right now.
As we've seen through posts of this subreddit, a lot of Marcos-Duterte voters are now worried of the increasing criminality and inflation. Honestly speaking, their expressions of regret are not enough for me. We need to hold them accountable. We need to make them feel the shame for making people suffer. They say things along the lines of "Sana nakinig ako sa inyo" or "Nagkamali yata ako ng binoto" and you know what? Rub it to them. A lot of think tanks, professionals, universities, and civic organizations have been warning you people of the rise of populist leaders since 2016 but you thought it's just a damn game. Now what? They seek help from you but can't seek help from the government they elected? That's on them. Make them swallow their pride and ego first before you hand them anything. Don't take politics personally? I guess they can't see what their vote did to their personal lives. Let the shame and guilt swallow them alive so they don't forget this experience. Maybe they'll listen next time.
As a mod of this subreddit and with its existence for the past three months, it is my joy to inform everyone that we're now nearing 8k Redditors. The feeling of Schadenfreude really gets me going thanks to all of you who are posting here. Trolls have been trying their best to crack our resolve but it's going to take more to crack a group of people jaded of years government corruption, violence, and incompetence. They can't break what's already broken all that's left for us to do is to fight back.
