The skin around my nose gets rough. Any idea why?

I tried posting pics it isn’t letting me include them.
For a few years the skin surrounding my nose, like the sides mostly and some on top of it gets rough occasionally and kinda peels. I moisturize and have used baby lotion like Eucerin / Aquaphor which has helped the most. Once I wiped the area with alcohol and it completely smoothen it all perfectly but I didn't keep doing it because I figured it would be harsh on the skin.
Anyone knows what this is and what can help with this?
