So a friend of mine has a 1992 3000gt SL that he is getting rid of because he doesn’t have the money to work on it and it has just been parked for a while.
The exterior of the car is in great shape and the interior is also in good shape. From what he knows, the car has a bad transmission so that would need to get repaired. I know these cars usually have other issues so I plan on going to diagnose it when I have some free time since he doesn’t know too much about cars and he said he’d rather have me or a mechanic find all the issues before selling it to me which I appreciate.
My question is whether it would be worth purchasing as a project car for around $500? I know the engine bay is tight in these and hard to work on and I have access to an engine hoist if needed. I know these are old but how hard of a time would I have finding parts for this car and how much are these cars generally worth? I’d appreciate any advice any of you may have!
Edit: I’m not looking to use it as a daily driver since I currently have my 2000 Honda Accord that still runs great. The car also has 168,591 miles on it.
