My fellow Russians,

After a tense few seasons of negotiations between Danish and Russian officials, Denmark has conceded defeat in the Northern War and agreed to the terms for a Danish surrender as stated by Russia.

"Although the cost was great, the gains that We have made will plunge the Empire into a new era of peace and prosperity" the Tsar announced today to the raucous applause of the thousands who flocked to hear him in front of the Winter Palace in St Petersburg.

"With the Øresund firmly within Our grasp, Russian naval trade and superiority in the Baltic are unmatched. Furthermore, there are no more significant threats to the Northern Alliance's complete dominance in the lucrative Fur and Blubber trades of the Arctic. A new Golden Age is dawning upon Our proud nation, ordained by God himself."

As agreed to the terms of the treaty, Russia has also withdrawn support for the campaign against the French mainland, stating that "Sacrifices must occasionally be made in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of Our realm. The French way of life and rhetoric is an abomination in both Our eyes and the eyes of God, but it is no longer Our goal to remove the festering blight of revolutionary thought from their nation."

Construction of Russian coastal batteries along the Øresund are already underway, with a small fleet of ships regularly patrolling the waters and checking any 'suspicious' ships that enter or exit the waterway.
