Shock in St. Petersburg today when a large part of the Copenhagen detachment of the Baltic Fleet arrived in port with news from the front lines that the siege was unsuccessful.

Although military personnel are remaining tight lipped about the battle, Russian casualties are estimated to be in the tens of thousands.

In a public appearance from the Palace Tsar Nicholas II addressed the people of Russia, stating that "We must not despair. God is gracious and on our side. We will prevail and overcome the Danish fiends in the name of Our Father and the most glorious Russias."

"The enemy is on the brink of collapse. Fear not, my people, for the end of the war is nigh."

Roughly half of the Copenhagen detachment will remain in harbour this season while repairing damage made by Danish coastal defences. The remainer of the Copenhagen detachment is being returned to Baltic patrol duty, whilst all those vessels previously on patrol are being sent off for a second assault accompanied by a smaller force of 30,000 men. The naval approach from the eastern Baltic will be bolstered by an additional 50,000 from the joint Swedish/Russian division based in southern Sweden.
