The day was particularly stormy. Winter storms were not uncommon for the Swedish or Russian forces, nor for the Danish defenders. 50,000 Danes were securely behind the fortified nearly impregnable walls of Copenhagen, ready to die for country and honor. The Russian - Swedish fleet, even with their constant bombarding, we're beginning to realize this alone won't defeat the Danes. 50,000 Russians began boarding transports to siege the city of Copenhagen. The storm and winter conditions combined with the Danish defense would be no easy task but the Russians have centuries of experience with winter warfare and pure numbers. The battle begins.
