Should I clean it and oil it before shooting it for the first time?

No I haven't. But I'm anxious to try. I've mixed reviews on Kimber and the QC in the last couple of years so I want to see for myself.

I live in Los Angeles and I don't plan on carrying it daily. I hope it doesn't start rusting.
