Situational high percentage shots?

Are there some best high percentage shots to play in certain situations? Are there vids about this?
I see for example when a pro does a backhand slice => the opponent usually responds with a cross forehand.. I assume to add even more spin on the already spinny ball from the backhand slice?
Perhaps a weird question but i sometimes doubt during play which shots should be played (another one: when to DH/SH backhand or when to opt for the backhand slice).
