Playing regularly for 2 years now and I always get jammed on my forehand. I do feel most comfortable having a bent arm. I have a modified eastern forehand grip and have been told my hitting arm needs to be straight?

Post Body

I have tried keeping my left arm straight like Federer as a tip but that just makes me not flow into the shot. Plus I don’t see everyone doing it, for example e.g. Alcaraz so this might not be a fundamental thing?

I tend to mainly hit flat which I enjoy more and feel most comfortable with. When I want to use topspin I just make sure I get my racket head below the ball and brush up. I have experimented with a western grip which I was told can use a bent arm (for eg Sinner) but found I lacked pace and felt extremely uncomfortable returning serves which is one of my strong points with my current grip and shot setup. I tried using eastern for return and western when in the point but it was just too confusing and too many things to think about.

Coming back to the original question of how can I stop getting jammed on my forehand where the ball is too close to me. Any tips or drills that I can try without asking me to remove my elbow bend on the hitting arm?
