Being a better doubles partner when I'm terrible at the net

2.5F, 41. I take lessons, go to clinics, practice matches, real matches, the whole nine. I'm pretty strong at the baseline because I'm a better singles player. So I can run balls down and hit deep shots. But, when it's my turn to be at the net, I am practically no help to my partner. I try to poach, etc. I also miss the easiest of volleys. It makes me feel like other people don't want to play doubles with me. I'm practicing as much as I can. What else can I do?
