Redid my post since I was in a rush last time:

Quick backstory: Stopped playing video games for a while, almost entirely skipped the generation but got back in with the switch about a year ago. Just now getting back into XBOX through my old 360 console. I imagine there are others like me on this sub. I now am itching to buy a XBOX X/S but trying to understand the backward compatibility situation.

I own a digital copy of GTA IV for the 360. If I buy a XBOX X/S, am I able to play GTA IV based off my prior purchase? Or do I need to rebuy the game? Asking mostly because I want to also buy Another game off the store but not if Ill need to repurchase it down the line. Also, based on a comment below, if I own a GTA V disc for the 360, do I need to repurchase since it is a native Xbox one title?

I’ll might prob just get game pass anyway so I guess it doesn’t really matter but still curious
