Monarch Norodom Suramarit has decided to dedicate a portion of the Cambodian budget to renovate his palace and order new marble statues and golden trinkets to his house.

In a formal pronouncement, the King's speaker said:

We, of the house Norodom, believe that in order to maintain opulency and prosperity to the rest of the country, need to renovate the palace and show to the world that we are a beacon of richness, formality and dedication. It will take approximately $80 million to renovate the basics and another $35 for the acquisition of assets to decorate the palace, I would like to thank you all for your patience today.

It was televised to millions of Cambodians, or at least to the millions of Cambodians that could afford televisions and minor protests were happening all over Cambodia, especially in Phnom Penh, the King has ordered the police to calm the protestors down and guarantee stability.
