Remember when the the US/West was friendly with Saddam Hussein? Guess Which countries supplied him with his chemical/biological weapons industry ?

Foreign Policy article 2013

Exclusive: CIA Files Prove America Helped Saddam as He Gassed Iran

US knew he used chemical weapons against Iran in the Iran/Iraq war. Turned a blind eye to that. US knew Iraq couldn’t lose that war. So that’s why they provided Iraq with satellite intel reports and other help.

Also US didn’t want Iraq to be too dominant as a power afterwards, prefer both sides to weaken each other. So another reason for Iran to get US made weapons in the hostages for weapons scandal. US told Israel to give Iran around 2k of its US made anti tank missiles to Iran. US then resupplied Isarel with its own supplies. Plus all the other military equipment in the deal.

Then you had the West welcoming Gaddafi back with open arms for a while.

So you get stories like this 2011 Muammar Gaddafi: A 40-year thorn in the West's side

Interesting one to read about

Middle East Geo politics is One hell of a rabbit hole once you go down it.
