For example, the V'rel system was actually formed from a previous system. Whether there was sentient life there, no one knows.
What IS known, is that there WAS life. In a unknown ages past, life existed on the previous system's main planet. That planet was fractured when the old star in the system blew up when a wormhole formed inside it, and ripped it apart. The tidal and weird gravitational forces of ripping space time ripped that planet with life apart, into nine chunks that got re formed into the planets that make up the V'rel system.
As devastating as the wormhole was, it had a side effect of pumping new stellar gas from the high density nebula, as well as rocky matter and loose organic gasses into the system, allowing three gravitational eddies to form around the conical space displaced by the wormhole.
Three stars formed, and quickly grew into life sustaining size, keeping the shattered planets alive, even though the wormhole displaced them in time, slowing it down to a crawl further out from the center, then snapping back to relative time at the system boundary.
the effect of that spacial distortion had an odd effect on any observer looking from billions of miles away. The star would flare, vanish, then three stars replace it, making it an object of confusion billions of years into the future.
