I recently played the demo and fucking loved the game so much, I decided to buy it, but before I did, I decided to research more about Wo Long first to learn what others thought. I was incredibly surprised to see this game compared to Nioh 2 (imo, I think it's closer to Sekiro than Nioh) and see everyone shitting on this game because of Nioh 2. Look, I'm not here to bash Nioh 2, but when I played the game way back when, I just could not get into it. It was too technical, too difficult, and once I started getting used to all the mechanics like the stances and whatnot, so much more of the game opened up to me and I just felt... I dunno. Overwhelmed? Sekiro was a hell of a lot easier to jump into, though it was still ridiculously difficult on its own.
But Wo Long? This game hits the sweet spot in like... every regard. The combat is ridiculously fluid, very much like Sekiro but not as complicated as Nioh 2's could be. The enemies can be very difficult too, but not so much that you'd rip out your hair like in Nioh 1 and 2. The bosses are also very cinematic in how they attack, but you're equally powerful, especially with Dual Swords. Speaking of which, I love how every weapon is honestly good on its own. Hell, while being a Dual Swords user, I find myself switching to the Hammer because I love the damage and if I do a dash attack, I can attack quickly and then pummel the enemy afterwards. You just have so many options at your disposal, but it's not trying to be like 3 different types of games the way Nioh 2 could be (people have described it like Dark Souls, Diablo, and a standard hack and slash). Wo Long is just... itself. Very much like how Sekiro isn't trying to be anything else as well. I think this game is getting too much hate from Nioh fans and PC fans (though in the second regard, the game deserves criticism until the PC port gets fixed).
Honestly, the biggest issue I've found with this game is no dash after dodging the way Sekiro is like. That's literally it.
