Is a duel cpu slot 1 system "good" for win 98/2000 gaming?

Theres a chance I might be buying a duel slot 1 dell and I'd like to use it as a gaming pc
What I mean by "good" is will a duel cpu system at worst be as good as a identical single cpu system?
I'm only looking because it's a local deal that's a fair bit cheaper than buying something online
