Post Body

Hey there /r/wicked_edge,

Long-time reader here. Here's the deal: I've been using a cheap Van Der Hagen brush and an unmarked vintage full hollow SR for about a year now. I ordered a new razor (which the ebay seller sent to the wrong address, a PO box 1250 miles away, just before the post office it's located at closed for good...I have no idea where the razor is now- I'm hoping the branch office will have the package by the time I get into town), and I've been dropping hints about wanting a badger brush for my birthday.

Problem is, last week the knot gave out on my brush and it's hemorrhaging boar hair chunks all over my bathroom, lather bowl, and face. To make matters worse, the tip of the scales nearest the blade rivet broke off around the same time while I was in the process of shaving, causing me to come dangerously close to cutting my lips off (I didn't have my styptic pencil to hand so I got a big glob of Tussy and smeared it all over the cut to prevent myself from bleeding out until I could find my dad's old spare), I'm going to have an interesting scar from that one for a while...

Anyway, my question is whether any of you have patterns/techniques for cutting scales out of wood/other ideas/any brush hacks that I can use to MacGyver my way through the next two weeks? At that point I'll be back home with access to a mailing address and I should be able to fix myself up with some replacement gear, but until then I'm kind of up a creek.

Much love,

-Daveaham_Lincoln
