Hilly Commute with Weekend Paved Trail Long Rides?
Post Body

I have a hilly 7.5 mile commute and I'm looking for an upgrade from my hybrid bike. I normally do 18-30 mile rides on the weekends on flatter paved trails.

I think I've mostly narrowed it down to the Jamis Renegade S3 or the Marin Nicasio 2. I was also looking at the Kona Rove. All are steel frames. The components seem better on the first two.

I like steel for the (supposed?) shock absorption and durability. But I worry about the weight on hills. So I could be convinced that's a bad idea.

Any thoughts? Thanks!
