Background: my wife and I have a tradition where one of us hides a green pickle ornament in the Christmas tree and the other has to find it. She has not found it so far this year.

So today I texted my wife, “I really want you to find the Christmas pickle when you get home today.”

After a moment, I thought about it and followed up with a text saying, “That may have sounded horny but I meant it ____”

Sincerely, directly, plainly didn’t seem right. My brain is telling me there is a word but I can’t recall. So what’s another word for when you mean what you say even when it could be taken another way (ironically, sarcastically, euphemistically).
