Young adult romance/coming of age The book starts after her best friend dies in a car crash. Main character started out unpopular, I think there was something about her losing a bunch of weight, and MC is trying to adjust and find her place. Becomes good friends and eventually mutual bf/gf with her late besties boyfriend. They hang out at parties and such, I remember a part where there’s a group hangout in the woods where they coupled up and the girl in each couple was blindfolded and the guy would have to go find them (like a competition) and she started freaking out and the guy (bf) came and rescued her. Book ends when she/he figures out that the teacher or some adult in their life ran the best friend off the road bc the best friend was going to expose that person. I think there were journals, can’t remember if MC wrote them or was reading the best friend’s. Remember the cover of the book had jean shorts or maybe they were holding hands close up. Thought the title had something to do with summer but not sure on that, maybe just set in summer. I thought maybe this was “the summer I turned pretty” but from what I can tell, the plot with the best friend doesn’t fit? I read it about 6-8 years ago on a friends kindle, read it twice cuz I loved it so much. Spent last few hours searching but no luck. Thanks for any suggestions!!!
