I only play a couple of TTRPG's outside of World of Darkess/DnD, so I'm really unaware of the variety of TTRPG games out there, but on a lot of discussion videos I've seen which talk about VTM or associated World of Darkness games, there tends to be this weird stigma that they're inherently "edgy" games or are automatically dark and futile in their presentation.
Whilst I've played my fair share of dark chronicles, I think branding the entire franchise as a complete edge-fest is a bit of an unfair judgement. I don't know...what do you think?
I’d say, like anything, it’s a gaming tool that you can play anywhere along its “edgy” spectrum. You could play Vampire like a Buffy-esque feel or go fully dark and horrifying.
The playing group dictates the vibe.

I’ve played it both ways: Funny/Campy and Dark. It’s was just how I interpret the game in the storytelling. I’ve had chronicles that were just funny and full of laughs as well as grim tragedies over decades.
