Feel the need to add my perspective to the discussions on here. There is lots of doom and gloom about being a virgin, and people obsessing about it, so here are my thoughts.
Would I like to not be a virgin? Sure.
Do I regret still being a virgin? No
Have there been opportunities that I have missed? Probably many, I am a bloke after all so not too good at picking up on hints!
Have I actively turned down sex? Yes, a few times
Do I let it rule my life? No
Is it something I think about often? Yes.
So why am I still where I am at with things? Partly choice. For a lot of us, religion in our early years has a big influence, and was for me. Also, not everyone wants to be in a relationship, but at the same time is not after meaningless sex, or a drunken one night stand. Nothing wrong with that at all, people are entitled to their own views.
My life is pretty good, I earn enough to indulge my hobbies, and can choose what I want to do with no need to consider a significant other or kids.
What if I die a virgin? So what. Itโs my life to live how I choose, and if that was the case, then so be it!
Hope this helps someone to gain a bit of perspective, to own their life, and see itโs perfectly possible to live a fun fulfilling life without sex.
