Post Body

Hello!

Thanks in advance and I apologize if this post rambles a bit. Any advice us appreciated.

I took a teaching job and will no longer be full-time freelance. My goal is to still do weddings/concerts/events in the summer and on some weekends. Small business stuff as well if it comes around.

I’m moving and thinking about just selling most of my stuff and building a small good kit for that. I have too much stuff but it’s hard for me to decide what to keep. I will not really be able to rent anything from my new location.

So here’s what I have and what I’m thinking,

Cameras:

I have a GH5S and a pocket 4K with a tilta rig. I like the 4K but not sure if I should keep it. Seems maybe like overkill.

Either I keep it and get a g9 or GH5 or sell it and get like a G9 and G95. I might want something better for photography though which could be my C cam. I’d just have to get new lenses.

Lenses:

I pretty much only use my lumix 12-35 and 35-100 2.8s. I have a 25 1.7 or slr magic 25 .95 for very low light.

I have a sigma 18-35 and 50-100 but I just don’t use them anymore. They’re too big and I don’t need the wide open aputure with dual ISO.

I’m thinking sell the sigmas and I’ll be good with what I have. Maybe get some of the nice lumix pro primes down the road. I dislike the focus by wire but I’ve used them this long and AF is needed for when I have photo gigs.

Lighting:

120dmkii w/ mini light dome, 2 aputure f7s, 1 smith and vector daylight soft led panel.

Should I sell the 120d? I think it’s overkill for weddings. It would be nice for interviews or occasional business videos but I probably won’t really use it that much. It could be nice to keep around for photo work though. The LEDs are decent for smaller interviews but aren’t as powerful as I’d like for a real key. I also use the leds for lecture videos and video meetings.

Audio:

I think I’m mostly set with audio. Tascam DR10L lavs, Tascam DR60D for board audio. I have a rode NTG3 which I think I will sell and get a nicer on camera mic that could possibly also be used as a boom, like the new rode video mic ntg. I then i think I’ll sell my rode wireless filmmaker kit for a wireless go just because of the size.

Thanks again if you read this whole thing. It’s way too long.
