As some of you know, I work in a steakhouse restaurant for the time being. I hate it, but I need to pay my bills, and I get to reach more carnists too. But one thing that absolutely drives me nuts is the total lack of empathy for the animals that had to die to give people their food. It strikes me hard whenever I hear someone complain that their steak is tough/chewy/too fatty/not fatty enough/etc. They send the meat back and it get thrown away for another slab of flesh to be delivered to them.
I am a Buddhist, so I practice non-violence, but in all honesty, I want to pick up the steak they're complaining about and smack them with it, asking them if they know what that animal had to endure before becoming their meal. I understand they're paying for it, but what gives them the right to complain that a body part isn't to their liking?!? I'm sorry that muscle tissue you have on your plate was actually used at one point to help a living animal function the way it was meant to and might have been become a little tough as a result. SMH.
