Do you watch videos of animal cruelty in slaughterhouses, and why?
Post Body

I watch videos from time to time from PETA and Mercy for Animals, and will also watch documentaries like Earthlings every few months. I don't repost these videos on my Facebook feed and don't ask anyone to watch them. Even so, I've had a few friends ask me somewhat disgustingly why I do. They say it's depressing and can't understand why I do if I already know what goes on.

The only reason I can give is because it helps me to reaffirm why I chose to go vegan from vegetarian a few years ago. I know these videos are sad and depressing. I know they'll make me cringe and wince. But each time I do, it reminds me that my choices are right. I liken it to going to church for other people. They go even though for the most part they already know most of what will be talked about there. They don't need to be reminded to believe what they believe, but for them the act of going every week reaffirms what they believe.
