I constantly see the pokemon community shitting on GameFreak, claiming they ran out of pokemon design ideas, or that regional variants are lazy. Excuse me, what? Regional variants are such a fresh breath of life for this franchise. It brings the universe closer to reality, just like real species that change, adapt, and evolve over time in different environments.
I saw someone complain that Meowth has 2 regional forms. Its a fucking domestic house cat. Its PERFECT for regional variants. There are so many domestic cat breeds, and Meowth's name, in English and Japanese, are fucking based on the noise a cat makes.
In addition to this, with Gen 8, some regional variants evolve into brand new pokemon too. Thats like a fucking 2-for-1 special. With over 900 pokemon what are these fans even expecting!? They hate every gen after gen 1 and constantly shit on actual good ideas. Regional variants are the best thing to happen to pokemon, so good in fact, I'd welcome a new gen with ONLY regional variants. 100 new forms for old mons across the board, (but maybe new legends, or variants). It would be both familiar AND new to fans who really value the franchise.
Edit: For those not understanding what I'm arguing; its just regional variant being an excellent idea. I'm not debating other aspects of GameFreak with this post.
