I see so many posts about stupid people stopping in the middle of the road and getting rear ended. The person that stops is stupid, that’s a fact. The follower is responsible for maintaining a safe distance regardless of what happens in front of them. If you don’t have time to stop when the person in front of you stops, then you were too close. A person could have 100 reasons for genuinely needing to slam on their breaks or stop. The fact that these videos are always idiots stopping for no reason doesn’t change the fact that the follower wasn’t maintaining a safe distance. The follower is putting their safety in the hands of another driver by assuming that they aren’t a moron.
