Why is everyone so rude during graduation?

It surprised me that during the ceremony people were just talking excessively, in their phones the whole time, getting up and moving around, and leaving early. Like imagine graduating and half your fellow classmates are gone. I understand some of you don’t care and think it’s pointless but still. (LAS ceremony)
