These are the qualities that I value in a sub. Some of these can predate a D/s relationship, and some must be trained within the relationship. Not all of these will apply in all relationships, for example a play-partner arrangement would not include domestic service.

Etiquette
The way a sub acts around and towards others, including her Dom.

• Language, consistently using an honorific when addressing her Dom
• Proper presentation (attire, grooming, cosmetics, etc.)
• Deferential behavior towards Dom/others, for example eye contact or waiting for permission

Identity
How much of her consciousness is devoted to submission?

• Eagerness or desire to please
• Knowledge of expected behavior

Service
The duties of the sub that improve and simplify the life of her Dom.

• Domestic service: Minor food prep (washing, cleanup, etc), laundry, misc. chores
• Sexual service, making herself available to satisfy her Dom
• Hosting guests, serving refreshments, managing coats and other items

Self-care
She must care for herself before she can care for others.

• Self-respect
• Learning, personal development outside of the sub role
• Healthy eating, hydration, fitness
• Taking time to relax
