Will picking any class you like be viable?

When i play this game i really like just picking anything that looks cool to me and tries not too look into whats the best build. I'm fully aware this isn't as effective as getting the best build out there but will it still be somewhat viable? By this i mean will i be able to play and not feel too weak to the point where i struggle significantly more than others?
