Hi, I'm planning a trip to Peru for 2 weeks in June with a family member. I was surprised at how much the costs added up for a two week vacation. Could someone do a quick sanity check for me?

Below is the intinerary and costs per person:

  • Flight from Vancouver to Cusco (Round trip): 1,100 USD

  • Taxi via Cusco to Ollantaytambo with half-day afternoon tour of Maras and Moray: 100USD

  • Ollantaytambo for 4 nights close by the train station - 300 USD

  • Train to Aguas Calientes (roundtrip) - 140 USD

  • Aguas Calientes for one night - 30 USD

  • Bus to Macchu Picchu (roundtrip) - 24 USD

  • Macchu Picchu Entrance Ticket - 47 USD

  • Taxi to Cusco from Ollantaytambo - 25 USD

  • Flight to Puerto Maldonado (roundtrip) - 280 USD

  • Tambopata for 4 nights - 1276 USD. Exception: Includes all meals, tours and transport for the duration of stay.

  • Taxi from Cusco Airport to Cusco Hotel - 30 USD (roundtrip)

  • Cusco mid-range Hostel for 4 nights - 90 USD

Total price comes out to $3,500 USD per person. Given the my itinerary and accommodation preferences, is this a reasonable cost for a trip of this length?

Thoughtful comments appreciated.
