I've been on HRT for a few months, and I'm planning to apply for OHIP coverage to have vaginoplasty sometime within the next year. But I'm also very fearful of pain, so good pain management is absolutely essential for me. Especially because if it hurts too much to dilate, I can see myself not doing it as much as is needed, and that's really really bad.
I know that different surgeons have different attitudes towards pain management, with some wanting to avoid narcotics at all costs (as GRS Montreal seems to suggest in their website FAQ), while others are presumably more liberal in their application of painkillers. I also suspect that surgical technique matters in terms of postoperative pain.
Do any of you have surgeons you can recommend that handled your pain really well, or where you didn't have much postoperative pain?
