I got a couple more comments on the coming out post I put on Facebook a while back (just someone else added me recently, and went back to comment on it, so I guess it pushed it to a few people's feeds again), and I got really lovely supportive comments from a couple that go to my old church, which is in itself great. The problem is that one of them said it helps that I've 'got an amazing family', and it's really kicked me in the gut.
I wish I had an amazing family, I wish I had the family she's assumed they are. But I don't, I get the family that act all nice while ignoring my identity entirely and exclude me if I'm wearing too feminine clothes. I get the family that treat my identity like a problem to be solved. I really wish my family were the people she thinks they are...
