Yeah I know different than my last post, I deleted it, but I suggest would it be a good idea for high profile people who pissed off Trump to flee. And maybe that might still be a good option?
But for the rest of us.....we need to say and fight (figuratively and literally?). There's several things you have to consider if you want to flee. Do you have the income to do so in the first place? Obviously right off the bat that would prevent a lot people fleeing. A lot of countries will require monthly deposits for you to stay. And it's not cheap.
Another thing you have to consider.... language. Can you speak Spanish fluently? Most countries that are near our obit are Spanish speaking countries. You have other options if you'd prefer to learn another language. Plenty of Eastern European countries could work......but a lot of them are facing a far right problem.
So...... English speaking countries. You got Canada! But Canada is cold, fuck that. And you have to deal with Canadians and they will have to deal with you (I'm just playing with you guys I love Canadians). But from what I'm understanding they also tacking right as well.
Okay England! The United Kingdom isn't as it's crack up to be. Be prepared to getting paid less and pay more for everything else. They are still recovering from all the damage that Conservatives did to it over the last decade. Also Brexit really fucked them over. So in essence you're just moving to Future America dealing with the fallout of Trump.
Lastly....you really think you can just jump on a plane or boat and just go somewhere and start all over again? It sounds sexy on paper but in real life not so much. And it's also a bit arrogant. Like....I'm just gonna leave home and barge in somewhere else. Have you considered that maybe they don't want you? But in the same time they might actually want you ($)?
Now some people have an advantage of having a job that can be transferred to another position over seas. They have a big leg up because they already have a foot in the door. One of my mid management guys left back to the UK because he's a Brit. So he has that leg up. He took his Wife (an American citizen) and two kids back to the UK. But for him it was a breeze to do. He already had a job lined up and he's (and I) are in a market that's considered highly skilled and niche (not everyone can do our jobs).
So lastly you have to consider. Where ever you're going to you have a set of talents that you can rely on for income? Because I think a lot of people have a fantasy in their heads that living overseas is like a vacation....it's a very American thing. Because when your living overseas nobody is going to give a shit that you're some poor liberal fleeing Trump. And in a way you could end up getting exploited.
But just food for thought. Good luck Comrades. We have a fight on our hands. Time to get dirty and save a country.
