Preface: Im voting Joe in 2024. I know this has to be said for THAT type of ilk.
153 dems voted for the tiktok ban. A TIKTOK BAN! Who asked for this? None of the voting blocks they need for now or the future asked for this. How does this help anyone?
This bill was introduced on 3/5 and passed 3/13. Pretty damn fast for dems to get on board with republicans. For the âits complicatedâ and âwe need a super majorityâ crowds. This is why young people dont vote.
When repubs want a bill passed it seems like dems jump on it fast. They dont play hardball or politic of any kind.
If biden loses ill say it again. NOT THE VOTERS FAULT. Dems hope on a republican agenda way to easily. We see it and we arent crazy for thinking a more constructive bill could have been passed to HELP the people.
I donât believe it will get banned in the US. Whatâs more likely to happen is it forces a sale to an American company to run. The only thing that would stop this, imo, is if China refuses to allow the sale to happen. If that does happen, rational should tell you maybe the ban SHOULD happen, considering there would need to be a pretty insidious reason why China would refuse to allow the sale to happen, namely data collection and election tampering.
So why lay this at Joe Bidenâs/Democrats feet when the House is Republican controlled? It may not be the most pressing matter, but in this specific situation, either something gets done (even if itâs not as important as other issues) or nothing gets done. Thats how our democracy operatesâŚ

I do agree that itâs bad optics when they are trying to encourage younger people to vote democrat. But again, this is a ban lead by a Republican majority House. And considering election tampering is a concern via social media, and TikTok is a very Chinese company, it could be argued to be a good thing. The other thing to think about is that TikTokâs user base is significantly older than you think. The median age of users is actually in the 30s.
Overall, more than likely this pushes a sale to an American company, which isnât a bad thing, and means people still get to use their beloved social medial platform and this becomes a non issue
