Server grumpyness. Oh, and I'm back, and SBK10 was awesome.
Post Body

Firstly, for everyone that DIDN'T go to the Superbikes down at Phillip Island, Nyah, Nyah, Nyah-Nyah. Nyah. It was heaps of fun. Tharyn has been an awesome blogger and has been using up my data on the iphone.

Anyway. The server IS grumpy. I'm aware of this. It's grumpy for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the TF2 machine is a virtual server, it's not running on real hardware. This causes it minor weirdisms, like the way it'll sometimes take AGES to change maps. It'll also occasionally cause it to shit all over the virtual drive. This shouldn't happen, as it never happens to any of my other VM's, but it does. I'm assuming it's something to do with the TF2 server using an insane amount of network and CPU.

The OTHER thing that's wrong is that the host machine has a dodgey HDD in it, which I've taken out of the mirror. This isn't a good thing, as the machine is currently running with only one HDD, rather than 2. I'll be down in Brisbane this week, and will drop in with a pair of HDD's and replace them both, so there will be an outage then.

The way to fix this, I think, is to put a better server in there, running VMware ESXi, which is awesome. I'm trying to figure out how much of a decent machine I need to do this, and how much it'll cost.

If anyone happens to have a 2RU machine lying around, with about 4 cores and 8 GB of ram they want to give me, I'll be most appreciative 8)
