I just rewatched Kit Harrington's opening monologue in 'Criminal' and was reminded how amazing it is.
It's just a masterclass in acting. With a blend of raw emotion and calculated restraint, he grips the audience from the first word to the last. His performance is nuanced, adding layers of complexity to his character over the course of 6 minutes. His control over his voice, facial expressions, and body language just creates an experience that leaves you absolutely hooked and dying to see more. What's more amazing it that it's all just one long take.
I'm struggling to think of a better example of a one take monologue tbh. Are there any others you can recommend?
I was thinking maybe Tyrion's trial in GoT, but having rewatched it, it's less of a monologue and more of a (frequently interrupted) speech. It's amazing as well, but it's not really the same criteria.
President Barlet's monologue in The West Wing. The Two Cathedrals episode.
