Hi! I currently have two monitors: an HP VH240a and an Acer GN246HL. My HP is at 60hz, and my Acer supports up to 144hz via DVI. I have my HP connected via HDMI and my Acer connected via DVI. Up until a few months ago, when I updated my AMD drivers, I had no problem with either monitor and my Acer was running at full refresh rate. After the update, my Acer would only display for a split second then turn black indefinitely when extended or used alone. I've tried deleting the graphicsdriver folder in the registry as suggested by this post and that fix did cause me to BSOD but once Windows repaired itself my Acer will now display extended, but only at 60hz and not alone.
Right now, I'm still having these issues:
- I cannot display above 60hz without my monitor displaying for a second and then turning black
- My Acer cannot display alone, only duplicated or extended and only at 60hz.
I think it has to do with the AMD driver I installed -- I'm honestly not the most tech savvy person so I think I've been installing them improperly? As in, not deleting them before installing the new one. My AMD Adrenalin shortcut doesn't work because of it. I don't want to do a factory reset but I will if need be; any advice is appreciated!
My PC:
Operating System
- Windows 10 Pro 64-bitv (OS Build 19044.2364)
CPU
- AMD Ryzen 7 1700
RAM
- 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR4 @ 1197MHz
Motherboard
- ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. ROG STRIX B350-F GAMING (AM4)
Graphics
GN246HL (1920x1080@60Hz)
HP VH240a (1920x1080@60Hz)
8176MB ATI Radeon RX Vega 56 -- I can't tell which driver is installed because Andrenalin will not open.
edit: when in game I am able to select 144hz as my refresh rate but my screen displays for a moment then goes black when this happens. F
