why does the master sword break so fast?

i'd imagine it's bc of what ganondorf did to it, that it makes it weaker overall, but i can't even get through a full silver lynel battle without it running out of energy.
they really must've made this weapon powerful only around ganondorf bc damn a stick is stronger than this thing.
i don't mind the weapon durability of this game at all, i love it. but it does sadden me a bit to see the master sword get nerfed this bad.
