Let's say you have a protocol which allows you to stake to earn a token.

  1. If I stake 10 usdc, a few weeks later I pull out 12 usdc. There were no token conversions,

Do I only have a taxable event on the additional 2 dollars as interest?

  1. Let's say I deposit 10 usdc in a smart contract, when I go to pull it back out there's only 8 dollars left.

Does this qualify as a loss?
