A couple of years ago, just as I was getting back into Tarot after a break of around… 20 years, I started watching videos and saw a review, or sample reading, or something like that of the Linestrider Tarot and I thought, that looks pretty cool, so I used Google to search for it and found a number of vendors on Ebay and probably chose the cheapest one. Then I scrolled down the page and saw the same vendor sold the Tarot de la Nuit and Tarot Illuminati, and as the pictures on the box also looked cool I bought those too.
When the arrived, unlike most people, I didn’t immediately rip of the cellophane and dive into them, but put them away to be looked at later after I had fully re-acquainted myself with the TdM, RWS, and Thoth that I used way back when.
Today, I thought, “I really should have a look at these decks I bought and see if they would be good to use on my new ‘video platform’ channel. So I opened the Linestride only to discover that it was fake. The damning features were:
A barcode sticker outside the cellophane conveniently covering the tell-tale QR code to scan for the booklet;
The thin, flimsy tuck box; and
Poor quality cards that may have been smaller than the genuine.
🤬😢🙄
To say I’m a little angry, upset, and self-loathing is an understatement. So, I’ll be getting rid of them soon, but not before I post a cautionary mea culpa on my ‘video platform’ channel
Take care, fellow rubes!
