The Cubicle Chronicles - Tales From a Miserable Desktop Tech - Epilogue
Post Body

Chapter 6

Well, guys and gals, we've come to the end of this particular series. I'm happy to report that I've been out of that hell hole for a week now, and man, have I seen the light. Some updates to end the week and close this book.

If you recall in Chapter 5, Derpy Dev downloaded a nice piece of malware that wound up hosing his machine. I was supposed to replace it, but, gosh darn it, I just couldn't get to it before I walked out of there. Well, as it turns out, on my last day (friday of last week,) I removed the helpdesk extension from my phone, forwarded it to the helpdesk, and went around saying my goodbyes to the few that deserved it. I found out, after I had left, that during that time, all hell broke loose and Derpy Dev managed to do the unthinkable and somehow managed to infect the primary DB server with, you guessed it, the same piece of malware he had on his machine. If that wasn't vindication enough, the question was raised on how this slipped through their "security."

Since walking out of there, I've landed at a .com with a startup vibe to it. You all know the kind...the mythical mix of alcohol, free food, awesome tech, awesome people, and just a chilled out environment. So, this marks the end of the Cubicle Chronicles since I don't have a cube anymore and am far from miserable.

To anyone else suffering in a shitty position with terrible manglement, I'm living proof that karma does come back. Also, I want to thank everyone for their supportive comments and messages. I hope that anyone else stuck in a situation like my previous one reads this and sees that the light at the end of the tunnel is legit and you should never stop running towards it.

TL;DR - I got the last laugh when a dev infected his machine and, subsequently, the main DB server of my former job, but give -78 fucks since I landed a great job with awesome people where I'm treated like a king.
